All-Time Least Favorite Bands/Artists

I love music, I really do. I’m open to a lot of different things. I’m not ashamed to say that I love LMFAO and that I have a couple Taylor Swift albums mixed in my iTunes library. That being said, it really takes a lot for me to not like a band. But still there are some bands that push me over the edge and to me are un-fucking-listenable.

Panic! At the Disco

I could never get into this band. I knew the first time I ever heard “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” (I think that’s what that song was called) on MTV, I knew it was going to be big and I knew I was going to hate it. I could never get into the lead singer’s style of vocals. It always sounded like he was quivering. I hate that they got so popular that Fall Out Boy pretty much had to jack their whole style to remain relevant and it prettied much killed their career. I’m pretty sure P!atD broke up, and the world is a better place because of it.

Hollywood Undead

I simply do not understand this shit. I don’t see the appeal in any of it. I know a couple friends who have really good tastes in music, with the exception of liking this band. They aren’t a good “rock” band and they aren’t good “rappers”. I don’t understand the whole “masks” thing. Slipknot did that shit in the 2000s and it was corny then (even though I bought every Slipknot album and had hundreds of dollars worth of merch). I hate that people think just because they aren’t rapping about blunts, bitches and big screen TV’s that they’re instantly good. You can rap about feeling and emotions all you want, but it still has a great possibility of being terrible. Maybe I hate this band because I grew up listening to Linkin Park, but even Linkin Park got old after the Meteora album.

Radiohead

I can’t get into Radiohead outside of “Creep”. Thom Yorke seems like a douchebag and that ruins this band for me.

Nicki Minaj

As much as I hate Nicki Minaj, I have to give major props to whoever found Nicki Minaj. For a long time, label executives looked for a female rapper that wasn’t a prostitute (Lil Kim, Eve, etc), but also wasn’t a lesbian (Missy Elliot, Da Brat, etc). They found the perfect product in Nicki Minaj who was just pop enough for girls (white and black) to listen to but just hip-hop for dudes to “maybe” jive to.

But regardless, I can’t get into Nicki Minaj. I’ll admit I liked her on Lil Wayne’s “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop”, and I’ll admit she probably has the second-best (maybe even best) verse on Kanye West’s “Monster”. But despite all that, her “barbie” gimmick is way too played out and a lot of her stuff sounds the same to me. I guess I’m just salty because I feel like Ester Dean should have been the female to blow up instead of Nicki Minaj. If you don’t know about Ester Dean, then you’re sleepin’ hard core. Ester Dean is probably the reason you liked “Super Bass”, considering she wrote half of the song and sings the hook.
